- Make sure the high pressure discharge valve is open and the pressure
gauge reads zero. Open the air-bleed valve on the top of the cap.
- Open the breech-lock by rotating the cap with the hydraulic ram. The
mating parts of the breech-lock should be completely disengaged.
- Remove the threaded pin from the hydraulic closer, retract the ram,
and position the closer for removing the cap.
- Attach the crane hook and slowly lift the cap with the crane until a
“woosh” sound indicates that the o-ring seal is broken. Lift the cap up
until it will clear all obstacles.
- Move the crane along the J-track until the cap is directly over its
storage cradle. Lower the cap onto the cradle.
- When the PTV operations are complete then remove the aluminum ingots
and pump all of the water out of the PTV.
